This prestigious honour is granted by a local society to voting members who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of local societies in particular, and to public relations in general.
Chris Hansen is certainly deserving of this title. She is a senior communications/public relations professional with more than 40 years of experience. She has been an active member of CPRS-NS since 1987, receiving her APR in 1991. She has held the position of the Chair of the Accreditation Committee and was also served as our Chapter President in 1995 and 1996.
During her career, Chris has held various positions in healthcare and public service fields. She started her career as a journalist, moved to public relations in the mid-1980s, working her way up the government ladder to her current role as Senior Director of Strategic Communications in Special Projects with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.
Throughout her career, Chris has recognized the value of mentoring student practitioners and welcoming them to the industry. Whenever she is able, she welcomes the opportunity to meet and speak with students at both NSCC and MSVU and has been a part of the NSCC Public Relations Diploma program as a mentor, where she has been assigned a new student annually since 2010.
