CPRS-NS Pat Brownlow Student Award
The CPRS-NS Pat Brownlow Student Award is awarded annually to a first-year public relations student at MSVU or NSCC.
Pat was a long-standing CPRS member and contributed greatly to both the local and national chapters. Beyond that, however, Pat was an enthusiastic cheerleader for those entering the field and beginning their careers. He supported students from both schools by hiring them for work terms, introducing them to members of his extensive network, and offering his expert opinion on everything from the best communications tactics to career-building decisions.
In November 2017, Pat passed away, leaving a hole in the Nova Scotia communications community – due to his tireless work with CPRS and up-and-coming practitioners, Pat had touched almost everyone in the tight-knit community. It is a fitting tribute to him and the kind of professional he was that his name will live on in this manner.
Jordan Parker – 2019 Pat Brownlow Student Award
Jordan Parker is very driven, showing a great deal of heart and integrity in his work. He excelled in his studies during his year in the NSCC Public Relations program, even while spearheading a number of projects.
Jordan was the driving force behind the revival of the NSCC Student Association’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance. He was also the Media Relations Manager for Hal-Con 2018.
Congratulations, Jordan on being the recipient of this year’s Pat Brownlow Student Award!
Alyson Greeno – 2018 Pat Brownlow Student Award
A first-year public relations student at Mount Saint Vincent University, Alyson Greeno is from Windsor, Nova Scotia. A high achiever, Alyson reached Dean’s List standing while maintaining a busy schedule, which included not only her studies, but university sport, mentoring, and community volunteerism, together with membership and leadership in two societies.
To Alyson, true success is ultimately a healthy balance of work, school, extra curricular activity, friends and family.
Congratulations, Alyson on being the recipient of this year’s student award, which is a special honour as it has officially been renamed the Pat Brownlow Student Award in his memory.
